Ian Bonato brings more than two decades of elite playing and coaching experience to the Wulguru United Individual Skills Development Program.

​

A former Australian Young Socceroo, Ian progressed through the Football Australia high‑performance pathway, earning scholarships with both the Queensland Academy of Sport and the Australian Institute of Sport.

​

His journey through these environments has shaped a deep, practical understanding of what young players need in order to develop to their full potential. Across 15 years of coaching, Ian has led high‑performance youth programs and served as Technical Director within A‑League academy structures.

​

His coaching is grounded in Football Australia’s National Curriculum and enriched by real‑world experience — the lessons, standards, and mindset that defined his own career.

At Wulguru United, Ian’s mission is simple: to give every player the technical foundation, confidence, and football intelligence to thrive. His sessions blend proven, innovative skill‑development methods with a strong focus on decision‑making, game awareness, and a growth mindset.
