AGE GROUP NAMES EXPLAINED IN FOOTBALL QUEENSLAND TERMS

MINIROOS
MiniRoos is a nationwide program created for children aged 5 to 11 of all abilities. It introduces young players to football through fun, game-based sessions that are inclusive and tailored to their developmental needs, which differ from those of adult players. The program focuses on helping kids learn new skills, stay active, make lifelong friends, and perhaps even discover the next generation of Socceroos or Matildas.

JUNIORS
Juniors marks the beginning of competitive football for players aged 12 to 15 of all abilities. After a grading period at the start of each season, teams are typically placed into A (FQPL) and B (Community) divisions. Our goal is to create an environment that allows junior players to grow and thrive as they continue their development toward Youth and Senior football.

                    REPRESENTATIVE PATHWAYS

At Wulguru United Football Club, we’re passionate about helping every player reach their full potential — both on and off the field. That’s why we proudly support the Football Queensland Academy (FQA), previously known as the Talent Support Program (TSP) and Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP).

The FQA program invites talented players aged 9 to 12 to trial and take their game to the next level, with a focus on developing strong, game-related skills and football intelligence. For players aged 13 to 16, the Talent Support Program provides an elite training environment designed to nurture emerging talent and prepare them for the next stages of their football journey.

Both programs offer 30 weeks of high-quality coaching delivered by FFA-accredited coaches, ensuring every session is packed with development, challenge, and fun. Participants also enjoy opportunities to represent Wulguru United at local, regional, and state carnivals — putting their skills to the test against some of Queensland’s best young footballers.
